Education

- Ph.D. Yale University
I earned my doctorate from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in 2002. My dissertation studies the rise of concern for the loss of biological diversity in the 1970s and 1980s and discusses issues in environmental policy, environmental values, and the history of environmental thought. At Yale, I taught courses in biodiversity conservation, environmental values, and environmental ethics. At UNLV, I teach courses in environmental law and policy and continue to research contemporary environmental issues, with a particular focus on the issues surrounding the growth and development of the Las Vegas valley.
